We have been providing a dispensing service for the home for several years now; to help explain the services we offer, we have included manager Taryn McGovern’s kind words about the level of care and the quality of service we provide.
Our Monitored Dosage System
Our monitored dosage system is a safe, time-saving and simple medication dispensing method. This method allows us to provide the most effective service possible, accommodating for patients’ individual needs.
Another reason to use this method is that the MAR charts that come with them are exceptionally clear, using methods such as colour coding for effortless organisation. Additionally, the care home gets access to a free online database with all their patient’s current and past medications.
“We have been using Doorstep Pharmacy to dispense our clients’ medication for the last 5 years. We changed over to them as they provide a personalised service and the staff are polite and helpful. They liase with the GP service with regards to orders of medication and check all prescriptions against our order before delivery so that mistakes are minimised. They are happy to discuss issues around medication and the clients and are always happy to clarify with us about the way we can administer medication especially for those with swallowing difficulties.
Most of our clients are living with dementia and are unable to manage their own medication, Doorstep Pharmacy’s MDS (monitored dosage system) trays are great as each pod has the name of the client as well as the date and names of the medication inside. They are easily popped out and the pod can be used as the medication cup to give the client thereby minimising the contact with the medication.”
Medication Delivery
“Our medications are delivered on time allowing for time to check in before the next rota is due so that we have time to sort out any issues that may arise with either the GP or pharmacy thereby ensuring that our clients do not go without their medication.
Interim medication is either posted and delivered within 24 to 48 hours, if medication is required sooner then we inform them, and they put the medication back onto the spine so that a closer pharmacy can collect and dispense the item for us. The system works very well for us. I would highly recommend Doorstep Pharmacy as no job is too small for them to tackle.”
